Primary Healthcare Education

In November of 2012, RIA welcomed Dr. Linda Lee as the RIA Director in Primary Healthcare Education. Dr. Lee leads an Ontario Community of Practice of 30 primary-care-based, specialist-supported Memory Clinics.  These interprofessional clinics have been shown to improve patient outcomes and reduce system pressures.   Their value within a Family Health Team context have been well-documented, and current research is focusing on examining the feasibility and impact of similar models of care offered within other primary care delivery structures, including within a retirement home context. 

 

PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS:

  • Primary healthcare educationImproving care for older adults in retirement/long-term care and in the commuity by creating interprofessional training models to provide better care.
