Research Project Detail
The relationship of cardiovascular health indicators with frontal-executive cognitive and motor function with age
PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR: Dr. Rich Hughson, University of Waterloo
RESEARCH PROGRAM ASSOCIATION: Vascular Aging Program
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
During normal aging, blood vessels stiffen and alter blood flow to the brain. Recent evidence suggests that altered flow to cerebral regions of the brain is associated with difficulties in memory and problem solving skills. The research team would like to clarify the link between blood vessel health and brain function which will help in the development of preventative and rehabilitative treatments.
