Cirriculum Development Program

Conestoga College is a recognized leader and innovator in health care education in Ontario, with more than 1,400 full time students in the professional fields of Practical Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Personal Support Worker, Paramedic, Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist Assistant, Hearing Instrument Specialist, Dietetic Technician, and Bachelor of Applied Health Sciences in Informatics Management.

RIA and its research programs work with Conestoga College to enhance Gerontology focus and content in these professional preparation programs, leading to a future workforce that is optimally prepared to provide best care practices for seniors. An interprofessional care model for long term care is under development by RIA and Conestoga College with curriculum re-design and testing in two long-term care facilities. A full-time RIA Chair for Enhanced Seniors' Care is jointly appointed by RIA and Conestoga College to coordinate this important work at the College. Josie d'Avernas coordinates this component.
