Mandate and Scope of Board of Directors
The RIA is incorporated as a non-share capital, non-profit organization with charitable status. The governing authority is a 12-14 member community-based Board of Directors with representation from University of Waterloo, R-B-J Schlegel Holdings (the principal benefactor), Conestoga College and the community.
The Board of Directors has the authority and responsibility to:
- Provide strategic oversight of RIA activities and directions
- Identify opportunities for partnerships, collaborations and projects
- Promote RIA
- Set operational policies for RIA
- Set strategic directions and priorities for the RIA
- Review and approve annual plans
- Review and approve annual budgets and financial statements
